Paris is known as a city with a bold and eccentric taste in fashion and design. As such, these Parisian traits are noticeable in their hotels. If you want to spend your nights in Paris in unique and tasteful accommodations, take a look at the following guide for the quirkiest hotels Paris has to offer.
Hotel Odyssey by Elegancia
Formally known as the Hotel-O, this quirky hotel was inspired by the Capsule-Hotels from Japan and designed by the young French artist Ora-Ito. But the Japanese implementation of the design with minimal amenities in the smallest place possible would not have worked for Europe. So Ora-ito added more space to the rooms but kept the simple design of the Capsule-Hotels. The rooms are lofty and feel luxurious with its polished utilisation of wood in a plain design. The location of Hotel Odyssey is also exceptional. The hotel is only 900 meters away from the Louvre, and a little bit further is the Rivoli Street with its famous arches. The next metro station is only 500 meters away and will give you access to Paris’s most renowned tourist attractions.
Hotel Jules and Jim
This uniquely designed hotel is located at Le Marais, the historic central district of Paris. It is named after the French film Jules and Jim, which was directed by the famous French movie maker Francois Truffaut. Its design theme borrows from the movie, and you can find hints to it everywhere in the hotel. There is a pop-up cinema in the cellar, and its outdoor fireplace often hosts art exhibitions. The rooms are stylish with a relaxed flair to it. They are equipped with modern amenities like flat-screen TV, free WiFi and iPod docks. The Arts et Metiers metro station is only a block away and the Louvre only 3km.
Kube Hotel Paris Ice Bar
This hotel comes with a unique concept. Inside you will find the Ice Kube Bar which is entirely made of ice. The temperatures are consequently below zero. And not just in the Bar, but in the whole hotel! The Ice Kube Bar is the first ice bar of France and is a favourite amongst the style-conscious youth of Paris. In the rooms, the icy design continues with all-white furnishing, ice-blue lightning and Scandinavian-themed design elements. The metro station La Chapelle is only 350 meters away and within 20 minutes walking you will reach the Sacre-Coeur Basilica and its exceptional view over Paris.
The Hotel Ekta will take you on a time trip. The interior design of the hotel is themed after the 70s, with funky fashion elements arranged in psychedelic decorations. This trendsetting hotel, which was designed by Jean-Phillipe Nuel and Natasha Stojkovic, will mesmerise you with its attention catching theme implemented throughout the interior. Everything looks and feels like the 70s. Just minutes away from the Champs de Elysses, you can book a room with a view of the Arc de Triumph.
You can already tell by its exterior design that this hotel is quirky. The handmade tree shadows on its facade give you an idea of what waits for you inside. This hotel has a “poem”- theme to it, which is implemented in its room designs and hotel interior. Each of the 16 rooms expresses a different concept of literature in its design. You can stay in the “travel journal”, the “newspaper”, the “printers” or “Sheherazade” room. And every other little and big design element in the interior is also dedicated to literature. The Montparnasse Tower and the Luxembourg Gardens are reachable in minutes, and the Vavin station is also just 200 meters away.
